Le hotfix se fait attendre ... |
 |
Just to further clarify so you guys understand the processes we are bound by...
When we create a patch, whether its 1 fix, or 100 fixes, it has to go through the same processes. Red Alert 3 has a number of versions, that when we patch, we must ensure ALL versions are properly updated.
Those include Red Alert 3 box + digital download, STEAM, and MAC.
For STEAM, we need to go through Valve in a partnership they have with our QA team, for MAC we need to go through Transgaming who converted the MAC version and also trans-codes our patches. All the above require people we are dependent on when producing any patch, of any size.
We made the AD change in less than 5 minutes, it was an XML error that was quickly fixed. You're right, such a change is that simple. But, creating the patch build, ensuring that change and the new build haven't produced any "knock-on" effects to other parts of the game, ensuring our usual checks and balances for patches have been...checked, ensuring STEAM and Transgaming have the patch build and have put it through their protocols, you can see, unfortunately we don't have "one button that does it all". And if I can speak for other developers, i'm confident they have similar processes.
When you talk about fixing "random", as I said, that may have been our bad, but while the fix may be quick, the testing involved to ensure its functional in all scenarios is a lot more extensive than one could imagine. Game development isn't easy
We're going to get 1.12 out as quickly as possible, we're putting it through our standard processes that we have to.
We apologize for the AD mistake, and we'll continue to find ways to streamline and improve.

(Je commence à courir car Lepi va me sauter dessus^^) |
